FAQ

Can you tell me about paper and mounting options?

Yes. We offer two types of paper as well as the option to have a border around the print so you can frame it without losing detail at the edges.

Paper types

We offer two paper types. In general, Enhanced Matt Art Paper is our ‘budget’ paper, and Hahnmüle German Etching paper is our ‘premium’ paper, but both have a beautiful finish. The etching paper does have more texture, however, which may offer a better representation of the original artworks, most of which were painted on canvas.

  • Enhanced Matt Art Paper
    • A premium quality heavyweight fine art print material with a smooth, clean finish. This museum-quality paper is extremely consistent and works perfectly with large, full colour graphics or illustrations.
    • The matte finish emphasises different highlights and tones in the source artworks; helping to create stunning works of art.
  • Hahnemühle German Etching Paper
    • A heavy-duty paper with a beautiful textured finish. The velvety matte surface is optimised for high-contrast prints. This vegan certified paper has a warm white hue providing a perfect surface for reproducing paintings, lithographs and fine art photography.

Mount border: yes or no?

We offer two options for art prints: with or without a border for mounting. If you choose ‘no – image to edge of page’, your print will run right to the edge of the paper, like a poster. If you chose ‘yes – border for mounting’ your print will have a 1.5cm border on all sides. This is better for framing as your print can be situated behind a mount without the edges being lost behind the mount.

Important Note about Page Edges

Because of aspects of the production process beyond our control, all art prints are trimmed slightly in comparison to the original artwork. These differences will be more visible on smaller prints (because the amount trimmed is a fixed amount i.e. more, relative to the size of a small print, and less, relative to a large print).

Because Alyn often signed her paintings close to the edge of the canvas, this means that prints with no border may get trimmed through Alyn’s signature, especially if they are smaller copies. If this is important to you, we strongly advise that you order your prints with a mount border, even if you do not intend on framing them. You can always trim them yourself with a scissors or bring them to a framer to get trimmed.

Prints with a border will also have slight variations at the edges compared to the original artwork (as the addition of a border changes the aspect ratio of the printed area). Again, this effect is more noticeable on smaller prints. However we have framed all prints with borders to make sure that Alyn’s signature is not affected.

Shipping

Can you explain how shipping is calculated?

Sure! Products we sell come in two categories: art prints and cards (postcards and greetings cards). Each category has a flat-rate for shipping, no matter how many items from that category you buy. If buying items from both categories, both shipping rates apply (because items from each category are produced and dispatched separately).

For example:

  • Buy one or more art prints: pay the art prints flat-rate shipping fee (€12).
  • Buy one or more cards or packs of cards (this includes any mix of postcards and greetings cards): pay the cards flat-rate shipping fee (€9).
  • Buy one or more art prints and any combination of cards/packs of cards: pay the combined total of the art prints and the cards flat-rate shipping fees (€21).

These rates are correct as of August 2024 but are subject to change. Please see your shopping cart for current prices.
