This site was created in 2024 in Alyn’s memory. The purpose of the project is to continue Alyn’s legacy both as an artist and as a community advocate. We aim to bring these together by sharing a selection of her work with the community and returning the proceeds of these sales to the community though our charity partners. See the About Alyn page for more information about Alyn.
About our charity partners
Sales through this site are processed by Schull Community Care Association (a registered charity) and all profits from these sales go to the association. Alyn was heavily involved in the association during her life, and these donations continue to support this local community cause.
We will also make our selection of cards available for sale in bricks-and-mortar locations to support other relevant social causes related to the West Cork community, and cancer and other healthcare-related charities which will be listed below as we roll out this phase of the project. If you would like to offer cards for sale in your premises or organisation (and optionally nominate a worthwhile cause to support) please contact us!
Schull Community Care Association
Schull Community Care started as Schull Meals on Wheels in 1977 to provide a hot and nourishing meal to people living alone on the Mizen Peninsula. This also means we can help people stay in their own homes longer and free up hospital beds. Our service has expanded rapidly and now includes Durrus, Ahakista and Kilcrohane on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula. We have many volunteer drivers who share their time to deliver the meals and check in every day on our elderly clients, making sure that all is well with them.
In 2021 we formed a housing committee and as a result of our fundraising, we are now about to officially open our first twelve houses, and hand over the keys to some very happy people. Alyn was integral to this achievement through her devotion and hard work. In honour of her memory and appreciation for her achievements we plan to continue the work she devoted so much energy to by going on to fundraise for another round of building in the future.
Your donations through this site will help fund this project. Keep an eye on the Association’s Facebook page for updates and to learn more about our work in the local area.
